Cake Baking & Decorating (Level 2)

This course provides training in health, safety, security and hygienic procedures essential for working in a commercial kitchen.  Through extensive hands-on experiences, trainees will prepare and produce basic cakes as well as specialty cakes such as wedding cakes. They will prepare fillings, toppings and icings for a variety of cakes and they will decorate cakes using a variety of techniques including piping, and frosting. They will also be given the opportunity to decorate cakes using gum paste and rolled fondant.

Additionally, trainees will gain the knowledge and skills required to operate a computer – to enter, manipulate and retrieve data and access information via the Internet.
